Guilty pleas entered in murder of pregnant Lexington woman

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Four men charged in connection to the 2016 shooting death of a pregnant Lexington woman entered surprise guilty pleas Monday.

Police say 22-year-old Mariyah Coleman was an innocent bystander who was hit by a stray bullet while walking her dog on Winburn Drive.

Coleman and her unborn son later died at the hospital.

Demetrioun Boaz, Joseph Fain, Saquan Freeman and Skylar Stigall were scheduled to stand trial next month for Coleman’s murder.

On Monday, Boaz pleaded guilty to murder, fetal homicide, and robbery charges. Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 25 years for the murder charge and 10 years for the fetal homicide charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 13.

Joseph Fain and Saquan Freeman both pleaded guilty to manslaughter, fetal homicide, and robbery charges.

Skylar Stigall pleaded guilty to manslaughter and fetal homicide.
