Guilty plea from mother accused of putting baby in garbage bag

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Cassaundra Haney, accused of putting her newborn baby in a garbage bag back in January has pleaded guilty to charges, according to the Winchester Sun.

Back in January, police say Haney gave birth in her toilet, then put the baby in a plastic garbage bag.  Officers say her roommate heard the baby crying, took it out, and called 911.  The child was taken to the hospital, and was reported to have not sustained injury.

Today in court, the Winchester Sun says Haney pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment and tampering with evidence charges.  Prosecutors recommend 4 years for both counts.  She is scheduled to be sentenced October 15.

Haney remains in jail in Winchester.
