Gubernatorial candidates make last minute push for votes on the night before Election Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Just hours before voters head to the polls, Gov. Andy Beshear and his opponent Daniel Cameron spent Monday night making their rounds around the Commonwealth, looking to sway Kentuckians who remain undecided.

“Over these last four years, we’ve been through a lot, a pandemic, tornadoes, floods, windstorms, ice storms. Yet still we are standing here tonight, more optimistic, more enthusiastic, more energetic about our future than at any time in my lifetime,” said Beshear during his second to last campaign stop.

“We’ve had the three biggest budget surpluses since I became governor, which means we have plenty of money to give our public school educators the giant race, they deserve. What it means is, it’s time for universal Pre-K for every Kentucky child, and what it means is we can continue to have historic budgets for higher education like the University of Kentucky,” he added.

Meanwhile, Cameron made his stop at the Fayette County Republican Party Headquarters, capping off a six-day bus tour across the state.

“We felt like momentum and energy was high with folks all across this Commonwealth wanting to see a new governor coming tomorrow, November 7th,” said Cameron.

“My message is clear: this really isn’t a race about Republican and Democrat; this is a race about crazy versus normal. And I think we need leadership in this state that is going to stand up and fight back against Joe Biden as opposed to endorse Joe Biden, which is what we’ve seen from Andy Beshear,” said Cameron.

“Are you ready to beat Daniel Cameron? Are you ready to win this election? All right, Fayette County. Let’s get out there, let’s get this thing done, and let’s build the commonwealth our kids and grandkids truly deserve,” said Beshear.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on Nov. 7.
