Guardian Accused of Scamming Mentally Disabled Relative
A caregiver has been accused of conning a mentally disabled relative out of over $900.
Lexington Police said Paul Scott convinced the man he was taking care of to give him $1,500 so he could buy the man some new furniture, clothes and a television.
Officers said Scott gave the man receipts for the purchases, but the receipt totals had been altered.
Police said one of the forged receipts claimed that Scott paid $990 for a new desk.
When investigators questioned Scott about the purchase, they said he confessed that he had bought it from Goodwill for less than $7.
Scott has been charged with exploitation of an audit.
