Group of Lexington firefighters heading to Florida

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Three Lexington firefighters are on their way to help with the anticipated Hurricane Matthew disaster relief efforts.

Battalion Chief Gregg Bayer says the group is part of Ohio Task Force 1 and was set to report to Dayton Thursday night. Bayer says from there, the firefighters will be deployed to the Lakeland Civic Center in Florida.

Bayer says some of the firefighters making the trip were also deployed to Hurricane Katrina.
