“Grinch” Can’t Steal Christmas Spirit From Winchester Family

A WINCHESTER FAMILY RECEIVED AN UNEXPECTED GIFT AFTER A SEASONAL ICON IS STOLEN FROM THEM.

You might remember the Dr. Suess holiday classic, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". The cartoon motion picture adaptation had the fictional character jumping through hoops to prevent the joy the holiday season brought.

It took a far less elaborate scheme than that to try and steal Christmas cheer from a Winchester family.

Their property, only a stones throw from Holiday Road, was robbed of some holiday cheer.

"I was sleeping in my den right there… and then I heard some loud vehicle, I’m assuming it was a truck," recalled Charlie Miller. He owns the property the tree was taken from.

The next morning, Miller said he got up to run errands and noticed the tree, a six-foot-tall blue spruce, he’d grown for years was no where to be found.

"My overall thought about it was I wouldn’t be able to decorate it again," said one of Miller’s sons.

Word got round though and earlier this week an unexpected gift from Winchester Federal Bank. The blue spruce doesn’t stand as tall as its predecessor but it means a whole lot more to the Millers.

"It just shows me that there’s a lot of good people out in the world," said Charlie Miller. Another son chimed in, "I guess I just felt really happy that someone was really generous to replace it."

As for the person or persons that took the tree; a simple wish from the Millers.

"Hope you have a Merry Christmas and you know I don’t mean no harm or nothing to nobody and I just hope they enjoy it."
