Grimes stays out of sight as speculation swirls
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Alison Lundergan Grimes has been back at work as Kentucky’s secretary of state since her lopsided loss to Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.
Since conceding to McConnell, Grimes has stayed out of sight as speculation swirls about which political office she might run for next. Grimes has plenty of options but a short amount of time to decide. And her top political aide isn’t saying much.
Jonathan Hurst, who managed her Senate campaign, said Friday that email messages have poured in asking Grimes to run for "a number of things." He says a decision on whether she’ll be on the ballot next year will come later.
For now, Hurst says Grimes is focusing on her duties as secretary of state and catching up on rest after the rigors of the campaign.
