Graves Co. to vote on packaged alcohol sales

MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) – Voters in a western Kentucky county will be deciding early next year whether to allow packaged alcohol sales. Graves County Judge-Executive Jesse Perry has set a local option election for Jan. 26.
The Paducah Sun reports the group Vote Graves County Wet 2015 turned in a petition Friday with nearly 2,400 signatures, enough to meet the requirements of state law for a local option vote. Currently, the Mayfield Golf and Country Club is the only restaurant in the county allowed to sell liquor by the drink, which passed in 2004.
A special election to allow all restaurants to sell liquor by the drink failed in in the county in 2003.
