Grant to help small city get new water plant
GREENSBURG, Ky. (AP) — A small city in central Kentucky is getting a $1 million grant to help build a new water treatment plant.
A release from Gov. Steve Beshear’s office says the city of Greensburg in Green County is receiving the Community Development Block Grant.
The city’s water infrastructure is 50 years old, and flooding incidents have made the water unusable for residents for up to eight days.
The project consists of the design and construction of a new 2 million gallon-per-day water treatment plant to replace the current facility. It also includes a new water intake structure on the Green River and new raw water and finished water transmission mains.
The $1 million grant was administered by the Department for Local Government.
