Grant awarded to help low income students

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky’s receiving a grant to help steer high school graduates toward college or workforce training.

Kentucky is one of six states getting the grant through the US Department of Education.

The grant is worth $24.5 million, but matching grants through local, state and national partnerships is expected to boost that to $49 million, over a seven year funding cycle.

Ten school districts are participating. Those districts will be announced later this month.
