Governor requests disaster assistance for 35 counties
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Governor Matt Bevin is asking for disaster assistance following severe flooding in the state back in February.
Bevin sent a letter to President Donald Trump, requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration for 35 Kentucky counties that were impacted during the severe weather.
The weather system brought tornadoes, flash flooding and torrential rain that caused flooding, landslides and mudslides.
Four people were killed.
According to the governor’s office, the storm caused more than $24 million in damages statewide – most of it to highways, bridges and local infrastructure.
Counties included in disaster declaration request include: Boyd, Bullitt, Butler, Caldwell, Campbell, Carlisle, Carroll, Carter, Christian, Crittenden, Fulton, Gallatin, Grant, Graves, Greenup, Hancock, Hardin, Henderson, Henry, Hickman, Jefferson, Kenton, Lawrence, Livingston, McCracken, McLean, Metcalfe, Ohio, Owen, Spencer, Trigg, Trimble, Union, Washington, and Webster.
