Governor Beshear honors fallen service members at capitol
Frankfort, KY (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Governor Andy Beshear honored military members on Friday with a wreath laying ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda, ahead of Memorial Day. Joined by Lieutenant Colonel Whitney Allen and the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, Beshear helped place wreaths during the 10 AM ceremony in Frankfort.
Governor Beshear emphasized the importance of Memorial Day as a time to reflect on the bravery of fallen soldiers. “This is a time for us to recommit ourselves to never forgetting that we are the home of the free because of the brave, and in Kentucky, we have the best of the best,” said Beshear.
The event was sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and the Asian American and Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group.
