Government shutdown threatens November SNAP benefits in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – God’s Pantry Food Bank is sounding the alarm as the federal government shutdown threatens November SNAP benefits.

Michael Halligan, the food bank’s CEO, says more than 600,000 Kentuckians — including children, seniors, and working families — rely on SNAP to put food on the table. He warns the demand on local food banks is already rising as federal workers face uncertainty.

“For every meal we provide, SNAP provides nine,” Halligan said. “We cannot fill this gap alone. The generosity of donors is more critical than ever.”
