Governer Beshear Announces Kindergarten Screening

Governor Beshear, First Lady Jane Beshear, and Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday announced today that Kentucky kindergartens would be screening incoming students for school readiness this year.

Kindergartens will be using the Brigance Kindergarten Screener, which gauges student’s abilities and developments as they enter kindergarten.  The tests are not the sort of exam that a student can "fail."  Rather, they are being used to assist faculties in identifying trouble areas for students and helping them prepare additional support and tutelage where necessary.
