Gov. Bevin orders flags at half-staff for fallen officer

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- Gov. Matt Bevin has proclaimed flags be flown at half-staff Tuesday at all state buildings out of respect for Louisville Metro Police Officer Nick Rodman.

Last week, Rodman died from injuries he suffered in a crash during a high-speed chase. The governor’s office says Rodman is only the second officer in the department’s history killed in the line of duty.

Bevin called Rodman a hero and says he is heartbroken for his family, friends, and the LMPD.

Police say a man involved in the chase which killed Rodman has been charged with murder. Wathaniel Lamont Woods, also known as James Woods, was taken into custody Sunday evening. Online jail records show Woods is also facing several other charges.
