Gov. Beshear: October is Energy Awareness Month
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Governor Steve Beshear has proclaimed October as Energy Awareness Month in Kentucky.
The month is designated to increase energy awareness and encourage citizens to reduce their energy use.
“One of the best ways to strengthen our future is through education,” said Gov. Beshear. “During the month of October, I encourage you to take advantage of the many resources provided by our Energy and Environment Cabinet to learn how you can use energy more wisely and more efficiently.”
To promote public understanding of energy needs and offer no-cost or low-cost ways to reduce the amount of energy residents consume, the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s website features helpful tips and resources to inspire consumers to take proactive steps to save energy. Actions you can take this month include:
- Take the ENERGY STAR Pledge, and learn how small steps at home can make a big difference.
- Find resources for a home energy audit – a great first step to increasing home energy efficiency.
- Raise your energy IQ by taking a weekly EEC Energy Quiz.
- Watch videos produced by Kentucky students to learn about their vision of Kentucky’s energy future.
- Participate in National Bioenergy Day, in Campbellsville, Kentucky on Oct. 21.
