Gov. Beshear declares statewide emergency

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Heavy snowfall in the Commonwealth has prompted Governor Beshear to declare a state of emergency.  The declaration will allow local officials to have access to state resources for safety and recovery efforts.

The governor, state officials, and law enforcement personnel are all urging Kentuckians to stay indoors and off the roads while the weather event is taking place, while road crews try to get ahead of the snow.  Beshear is also encouraging people to check on elderly neighbors.
