Gov. Beshear calls for compassion and aid for Texas flood victims

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is offering words of support and solidarity for families impacted by the devastating flooding in Texas, calling on the nation to come together in compassion.

Beshear — who has led Kentucky through several natural disasters, including historic flooding in eastern Kentucky — said the images and stories emerging from Texas are heartbreaking.

“What these families are going through right now is just pure hell,” Beshear said on CNN’s State of the Union.  “What they need is the entire country to wrap their arms around them, to show them just pure love.”

The governor added that Kentucky stands ready to assist Texas in any way possible and encouraged others to help however they can.
