Gov. Andy Beshear mourns U.S. service members killed, including Kentucky-based troops

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Gov. Andy Beshear is urging Americans to come together in support of the families of U.S. soldiers killed as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.

In a social media post Tuesday morning, Beshear said six American service members have now been confirmed killed in attacks by Iran, including troops who were based out of Kentucky.

“America, let’s join together and pray for the families of the now six soldiers killed in attacks by Iran — including those based out of my home state, Kentucky,” Beshear wrote on X. “Let’s wrap our arms around them during this difficult time.”

The U.S. military has reported multiple casualties in the widening conflict following a series of strikes in the region. Beshear’s post reflects growing concern over the impact the turmoil is having on American service members and their loved ones.

The governor’s message comes amid international developments after U.S. and allied strikes on Iranian targets, which have drawn both support and criticism from lawmakers nationwide. Kentucky political leaders have offered a range of reactions to the conflict and the growing toll on U.S. personnel.

Details about the identities of the service members killed or which Kentucky units were involved have not yet been released.
