Gov. Andy Beshear filed to run for re-election in 2023

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Gov. Andy Beshear posted on his personal Facebook page Friday he’s filed to run for re-election in 2023.

The 43-year old was elected Kentucky’s 63rd governor in November 2019, defeating Republican incumbent Matt Bevin in a close race.

He was elected attorney general in November 2015.

He’s the son of Steve and Jane Beshear, the 61st governor and first lady of Kentucky.

State Auditor Mike Harmon, a Republican, has already announced he’s running for governor.

Other Republicans mentioned as possible candidates include Matt Bevin, Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, state Treasurer Allison Ball and former U.N. ambassador Kelly Knight Craft.
