“We got punched in the mouth first.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Coach Cal said after the win over LSU he was pleased with his team’s will to win.  He was happy the Cats had a chance to win it late and did.

After the hot start to the game and a 7-0 run from the tip.

LSU took a 36-31 lead into the locker room.  The Tigers were previously perfect on the season when up at the break.

So what changed and switched for UK to come out hot again, retake the lead and then be able to fight late even with 3 guys battling the flu in Hamidou Diallo, SKJ and Nick Richards?

How many times have we heard Cal talk about his team’s will to win? Not just this season.  It’s every year.  That’s flu at LSU or not.

Solid Blue fans know it all too well.

When the Cats don’t have a “will to win” things have typically not gone well.

So does this team have what it takes to run through league play and come out on top with a good seed come March?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the glue guy coming off the bench for Kentucky the last three games.

63 total points for an average of 21 a night.  SGA is leading this UK bunch to victory.

What changed that pushed the Cats over the top and kept UK in the win column down in Baton Rouge?  And what led to the 5-point deficit at the break to begin with?

Hear from Cal and SGA in the video.
