Goodbye, for now

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There’s plenty on tap for the final regular season series slated at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Mississippi State will be in town.  That brings former UK coaches John Cohen and Gary Henderson back to Lexington.

Ceremonial first and last pitches, poster giveaways, commemorative balls and more will be on hand to celebrate The Cliff.

But if you ask head man Nick Mingione, he has hopes it’s not the last series played before ushering in the new stadium.

There are hopes of hosting an NCAA regional still.

For a handful of senior Bat Cats, this weekend is a trifecta; it’s senior day Friday night, the last home series of the regular season and saying goodbye to a place they’ve called home.

For some guys, they’ve been through their entire career in Lexington

JUCO transfer Luke Heyer says it’s a place of personal growth.

He’ll never forget the dogpile after winning the NCAA Regional last season over NC State.

Heyer knows it’ll be tough to balance his emotions this weekend, but he’s ready to hone in and win too.

Hear from Mingione and Heyer in the video.
