UPDATE: Golden Alert cancelled for Franklin County woman

Franklin County Emergency Management says Melissa Wood has been found safe and the Golden Alert is cancelled.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities are searching for a missing Franklin County woman who has Down Syndrome.

Franklin County Emergency Management says 42-year-old Melissa K. Wood was last seen on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. on Old Dailey Avenue in Frankfort.

Officials say, in addition to Down Syndrome, Woods also has diabetes and multiple psychological issues.

Wood is described as a 5’6″ with red hair, blue eyes and a heavy build. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and black and white shoes.

Police say it is crucial Wood is found as soon as possible. If you see anyone fitting her description or know where she may be, you’re asked to call Franklin County Dispatch at (502)875-8582.
