GoFundMe started for funeral expenses for 4-year-old Whitley Co. child found murdered

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — A GoFundMe has been created by the family of a 4-year-old girl found murdered in Whitley County to help cover her funeral expenses.

Chloe Darnell’s family hopes to raise $10,000 to lay Chloe to rest.

Two people have been arrested for Chloe’s murder: 24-year-old Brittany Slaughter and 34-year-old Adam Hayes.

“We’ve arrested Adam Hayes and Brittany Slaughter,” said Whitley County Sheriff Bill Elliotte. “They’ve both been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.”

Slaughter is Chloe’s aunt, who had custody of Chloe, and Hayes is Slaughter’s partner.

The family says Chloe’s body was found in the woods behind their house.

“We hoped to bring chloe home alive, but I’m glad we at least could locate her so the rest of the family could have some closure,” said Elliotte.

Chloe had been missing since September, as well as Slaughter, however, Slaughter was found unharmed last night. Chloe had still been reported as missing at that point until police began searching.

“She has been missing for some time,” said Elliotte. “We’re trying to pinpoint exactly when that was and I think the exact time is yet to be determined. The body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and for a positive identification. Hopefully, the autopsy results will will give us a little more information.”

You can also donate money directly to the funeral home, Crosley’s Funeral Home in Williamsburg, as opposed to GoFundMe.

Any remaining funds will be used to help get Chloe’s seven siblings to her funeral.
