God’s Pantry receives $10,000 donation
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – We all hear and think about food drives for the needy during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. But the need is just as great, if not more so, during the summer.
God’s Pantry Food Bank got a little help today to meet that summer crunch. Westfield Insurance and Energy Insurance presented the organization with two $5,000 checks. One of those was a dollar for dollar match of money donated by Energy employees.
“This donation will make a huge difference to the lives of families throughout the summer as we work to end hunger across Fayette County and across Central and Eastern Kentucky,” said Michael Halligan, CEO of God’s Pantry Food Bank.
The donations will help fund everything from summer feeding programs for school kids and the elderly to neighborhood food box distributions and the return of shopping days at the Pantry.
