Go-Fund Me page set after Kentucky family drowns in creek
(WTVQ/AP) – Authorities say a family of five from Elkton, Kentucky died Saturday night after trying to drive across a low-lying bridge.
Adam and Erin Schutt and their three children were heading to visit family in Minnesota when they were caught in a rain-swollen creek in Illinois.
Authorities say the family may have been lost when they ran into the low- water crossing.
They called from inside their submerged vehicle and a firefighter was there within minutes. However, shortly after the firefighter arrived on the scene, the car became dislodged was washed nearly 200 feet downstream and sank.
Dive teams recovered the car.
