Gift of Life 5K

This is the fourth annual Gift of Life 5K and the second year it’s been held in Winchester. It’s a fundraiser for Trust For Life and KODA and all of the funds raised go into the Satterwhite Fund for transplant recipients in Kentucky in financial need. The money provides medicine, transportation, overnight lodging for long-distance doctor’s appointments, medical equipment, and other things not covered by insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.

We will have fabulous prize baskets for the top three men and women runners and random drawings of prizes for runners who stay for the awards. We’ll have free food – sausage and biscuits provided by our County Attorney Brian Thomas, fruit and breakfast bars provided by Kroger, Water and Ale-8 provided by Ale-8-One. There will be a live music performance by Prototype. We’ll have a community art project underway, sponsored by Friends of Arthur Walson, who started Trust For Life back in 1992 in Clark County. We’re also working on a health fair to keep people busy while we wait for the last walkers to come in and tally the age group winners for awards.
