Georgetown Police warn about “Jugging”
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Georgetown Police Department is warning the public about a growing crime trend known as “jugging”—a tactic where criminals watch for people withdrawing large amounts of cash from banks or ATMs, then follow them to rob them.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, jugging incidents often occur in parking lots or near victims’ homes. The crime has been reported across the country and is now a local concern.
Police are urging residents to stay vigilant when handling cash in public. They advise not to flash money, to be aware of your surroundings, and if you suspect someone is following you, to drive to a public place or directly to a police station.
Authorities say quick action and awareness can help prevent becoming a target.
