Georgetown Police open applications for Citizens Police Academy this fall

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — Ever wondered what it’s really like to wear the badge? The Georgetown Police Department is inviting community members to find out by joining its Citizens Police Academy.

The 10-week program begins September 9 and runs through November 11, with sessions held every Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 550 Bourbon Street in Georgetown.

Participants will get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement, learning everything from how officers conduct traffic stops and handle crisis negotiations to practicing defensive tactics.

The program is free, but space is limited. Those interested can apply now at georgetown-cpaaa.org.
