Georgetown, Frankfort men sentenced for child pornography charges

GEORGETOWN/FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two men, one from Georgetown and one from Frankfort, were each sentenced this week for child pornography charges in separate cases.

In Georgetown, Matthew Marshall was sentenced on Monday to 22 years in prison for the production of child pornography.

According to Marshall’s plea agreement, a victim approached law enforcement about Marshall when the victim was a minor. During the investigation, police found 500 sexually explicit images of the minor victim, 33 sexually explicit videos and 191 chats involving Marshall enticing the victim.

Evidence also revealed that the 30-year-old had been communicating with other minor victims.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Georgetown Police Department.

In Frankfort, Richard Benson was sentenced on Tuesday to 23 years in prison for the receipt of child pornography.

According to Benson’s plea agreement, law enforcement was informed that Benson was uploading child pornography images on his Google storage account. On April 18, 2022, Benson admitted to law enforcement about receiving, accessing and viewing child pornography.

The 49-year-old also admitted he was previously convicted in Wisconsin of second-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault in 1995.

Benson was additionally ordered to pay $17,500 in restitution.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and Kentucky State Police.
