Georgetown Fire Chief retires after 20 years of service
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A farewell in Georgetown, as Fire Chief Tim Thompson officially retired Thursday after 20 years of service with the Georgetown Fire Department.
Thompson joined the department in 2005 and worked his way up through the ranks, ultimately becoming chief in 2022. Over the years, he earned the respect and admiration of his peers and the community he served, according to a Facebook post.
As he steps away from his role, Chief Thompson says what he’ll miss most are the people—the friendships, camaraderie, and shared purpose built over two decades on the job.
Now entering retirement, Thompson says he’s looking forward to some well-deserved rest, with a camping trip on the calendar and time to reflect on a career dedicated to protecting others.
