Georgetown College falls in NAIA title game

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It was all Georgetown early in Kansas City.  The Tigers’ hot shooting led Mid-America Christian for most of the night, including a 50-39 halftime score.

But it wasn’t enough as MACU forced overtime and hit a buzzer-beater to win it 100-99.

Seniors Tony Kimbro and Noah Cottrill both had great nights.  Kimbro tallying 25 points, 12 rebounds.  Cottrill netted a game-high 32 points.

Senior big man Deondre McWhorter worked hard down low to finish with 21 points, 11 boards.  He was named the NAIA player of the year after the loss.

Georgetown’s final record for the season sits at 32-4.  It was G’Town’s 6th trip to the NAIA championship game.  The Tigers won it all in both 1998 and 2013.

Malcolm Mann hit the game-winner to finish with 23 points for MACU.  Devonse Reed led the Evangels with 25 on the night.
