Georgetown Police Citizens Academy gives residents hands-on look at law enforcement
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Georgetown Police Department is giving residents an inside look at what it’s like to serve in law enforcement through its Citizens Police Academy.
This week, members of Class 30 took part in one of the academy’s most interactive sessions — traffic stops. Instructors walked participants through hands-on exercises that demonstrated what officers experience during real-world encounters.
The department also thanked the Georgetown Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association for its ongoing support of the program, which continues to grow each year.
Next week’s class will focus on addictive behaviors, drug recognition and prevention, and the responsibilities of a public information officer.
