Geminid meteor shower to peak this week — here’s when to watch

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Hey Kentucky stargazers — you’re in for a treat this week!

The Geminid meteor shower is expected to peak overnight from Dec. 13-14.

Under ideal conditions, this meteor shower is predicted to peak at about 150 visible meteors per hour, according to NASA.

The time to start looking will likely be after 8:30 p.m. EST on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 13. The radiant will reach its highest in the sky around 2 to 3 a.m. After about 6 a.m. Thursday morning, December 14, the first hints of dawn will begin to interfere.
