Gas Prices Rise As Isaac Hits Land
Gas prices in Kentucky rose overnight. And today, they’re flirting with the $4 mark.
A spokesperson for AAA in Lexington says gas prices are up for two reasons: Hurricane Isaac and this weekend being a holiday.
While this affects drivers, it also impacts businesses.
The Golden Apple in Lexington drives fresh produce to Kentucky from North Carolina several times a week.
An employee said their trucks run on diesel, so they can’t cut back to the cheaper fuel.
And they have to make those trips south or they won’t have a product to sell.
If gas prices keep climbing, The Golden Apple says they might have to raise produce prices $.01 to $.10 per pound.
