Gas Line Leak – Homes evacuated

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Lexington Fire Department was busy on Monday afternoon, after a construction crew allegedly struck a natural gas line on Castlebridge Lane.

The 4-inch line leaked into the area, says officials, prompting the Fire Department to evacuate nearby homes. According to WTVQ’s Nathan Justice, currently on the scene, Columbia gas was at the location around 4:30, attempting to repair the leak.

Between 15 and 20 homes were evacuated and the roadway is still blocked to all traffic.

Some residents have gone elsewhere for temporary housing, says Justice, while others have elected to remain and wait outside the subdivision for news of repairs.
