Gas leak forces evacuation of homes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police say homeowners have re-entered their residences after about 20 homes were evacuated because of a gas leak.

Police say the leak was at the intersection of Oak Hill Drive and Locust Avenue.  According to Columbia Gas, construction crews in the area hit a two-inch plastic main line.

Homeowners still won’t be able to use any gas until repairs are complete. Once the line is repaired, officials will enter the homes and re-ignite pilot lights.
