UPDATE: Man killed in garbage truck crash in Powell Co. identified

UPDATE (8/08/18 9:40 P.M.)

CLAY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ)-Police now know the name of the garbage truck driver killed in the crash in Clay City Wednesday.

The Powell County Coroner identified the man as 57-year-old David Burgess.

State Police say Burgess was driving the garbage truck when he veered off the road into a ditch causing the truck to overturn.

CLAY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A residential garbage truck driver was killed in a single vehicle accident shortly after noon Wednesday on Spout Springs Road (KY 2001) in Clay City.

Kentucky State Police, Powell County Sherriff’s Office and Rumpke are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Ky 2001 is expected to remain closed for several hours while the accident is investigated.
