Future of vacant Kroger store discussed at meeting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) –  Dozens showed up at a meeting Tuesday night to express their concern about the Kroger building on Romany Road in Lexington.

The Kroger at that location  closed for good last Saturday, but Urban County Council Member  Bill Farmer says the lease isn’t up until September of 2016.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports those at last night’s meeting told Farmer if the building stays vacant for too long it could have a negative impact on the businesses around it.  The newspaper says those present told farmer they want a grocery store in the space.
