Further Ado wins the $1.25 million Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Further Ado surged down the stretch to win the $1.25 million Blue Grass Stakes on Saturday, solidifying his place in the Kentucky Derby.
Sent off as the 8-5 favorite, Further Ado delivered a commanding performance for trainer Brad Cox and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., finishing the 1 1/8-mile race in 1:49.59, 11 lengths in front of second place. He returned $3.70 to win.
Ottinho finished second, while Talkin came in third.
With the victory, Further Ado earned 100 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby, scheduled for May 2.
