Funeral services set for 9-year-old boy, who died after being swept away by floodwaters in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Funeral services have been announced for Gabriel Noah Jerome Andrews, the 9-year-old boy who died after being swept away by floodwaters in Frankfort on April 4th. According to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Gabriel was caught in rising water conditions on his way to his school bus stop in the Hickory Hills area of Frankfort that morning. His body was recovered approximately half a mile from where he was reportedly swept away.
Gabriel had turned nine, just three days before his tragic death.
According to the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Facebook post, Gabriel was preceded in death by his father, a sister and a brother.
He is survived by his mother, a sister and three brothers, maternal grandparents, two aunts and an uncle by marriage.
The Facebook post says visitation for Gabriel will be held on Tuesday, April 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel there, with burial to follow in Pikeville, KY.
Gabriel’s death marks one of at least four fatalities across Kentucky linked to the recent severe flooding, which prompted widespread evacuations and ongoing recovery efforts.
