Friends remember Lexington man stabbed, killed

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Friends and family are mourning the loss of a Lexington man who police say was stabbed to death.

Police say the victim’s girlfriend is charged in his murder and is no stranger to law enforcement.
Those who knew the victim, John Sharp, say he was nice to everyone he met and now they can’t believe they have to say goodbye.

Police say they were called to the 5900 block of Athens Walnut Hill Pike on Saturday for a welfare check. They say that’s when officers found Sharp, 54, dead.

The coroner says he died from multiple stab wounds in his chest on Thursday.

According to court documents, Vanessa Napier was Sharps’s girlfriend. She’s accused of the murder.

“We can’t bring him back,” said David Barrett, a close friend of Sharp’s. “He won’t be forgotten that’s for sure.”

Napier’s murder charges were added on Sunday while she was already in jail.

Napier was arrested Friday morning after police say she stole a bucket truck from a gas station, dragged the truck driver then led officers on a 45-mile chase.

The judge entered a not guilty plea for Napier during her video arraignment Monday afternoon. She has no bond because of the murder charge.

She’s due back in court on July 16th.
