Friday deadline to donate bags for domestic violence, trafficking survivors through KSP project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police is reminding the community that this Friday is the final day to donate duffel bags or suitcases to support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

KSP set a goal of collecting at least 100 bags through its Women’s Service Project. The bags will be donated to Southeast Christian Church’s Human Trafficking Outreach Program to help survivors leave dangerous situations with dignity.

Troopers say survivors often flee with nothing more than a trash bag or a broken suitcase to carry their belongings.

Donations can be dropped off through July 18 at any KSP post across the state.
