Free paper shred event and food drive Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – You can get paper shredded for free and help a great cause at the same time on Saturday, May 14, if you live in Fayette County. Residents may bring up to five boxes or bags of material to be shredded.
People are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to God’s Pantry Food Bank. Currently the most needed items include:
Peanut Butter
Canned goods (hearty soups, fruits, vegetables)
Pasta
Rice
Cereal
Shelf stable milk
Please do not bring items in glass packaging.
The event is being put on by the Division of Waste Management. Other sponsors include The Thoroughbred Center, Papa John’s and the Better Business Bureau of Central and Eastern Kentucky.
No plastic binders or binder clips should be included with materials for shredding.
Staples, paper envelopes and paper clips are acceptable.
Cardboard boxes will be collected and sent to the Lexington Recycling Center.
The event location is 1631 Old Frankfort Pike in Lexington. Entrance to the event will be through Jimmie Campbell Drive.
The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
