Frederick Douglass wins 11th Region girl’s title, finals on the boy’s side set
Frederick Douglass and Great Crossing will battle for the boy's title
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- A busy day in the 11th Region basketball tournament was capped off by Frederick Douglass winning the girl’s title and booking their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen at Rupp Arena.
The Broncos beat the Indians 68-41 in the Saturday finale at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
Douglass will face Simon Kenton in the first round of the state tournament on Wednesday, March 12 at 8:30 p.m.
On the boy’s side, Douglass and Great Crossing beat Lexington Catholic and Bryan Station respectively for the chance at the region crown.
The two sides will battle it out for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at Dunbar High.
