Franklin Sheriff: Man on the run after meth bust

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says one man is in jail, and another is on the run after a meth bust.

Deputies say it happened today after they went to a home on Sandstone Court to investigate a complaint about a possible meth lab. The sheriff’s office says it had also received a tip that a wanted man, Dustin Linn Dean, was in the home.

Detectives say they knocked at the door and announced their presence, but no one answered. According to the sheriff’s office, “The garage door on front of the house was slightly raised and the detectives observed someone who appeared to be Dustin Dean look out of an interior door and quickly go back inside. Detective gave pursuit to the subject and it was determined that the subject was actually Rod Eric Leigh, 29, of Frankfort.”

The sheriff’s office says Leigh had an outstanding warrant for parole violation. They say he resisted arrest, and discarded a small glass vial of methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, detectives say Dean escaped out a back door and ran off. They say he’s wanted on a warrant for promoting contraband.

According to the sheriff’s office, Leigh was arrested on scene for the parole violation warrant and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, Possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
