Franklin County man indicted on sexual abuse charges, also facing arson and murder charges in deadly house fire

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Franklin County man already facing arson and murder charges in connection to a deadly house fire has now been indicted on multiple counts of sexual abuse.

According to an indictment filed July 1 in Franklin Circuit Court, Dustin Lynn Fields, 44, of Flat Creek Road in Frankfort, is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, all Class D felonies.

The indictment accuses Fields of subjecting a child, who was under 12 years old (4-years old at the time, according to the indictment), to sexual contact between December 2007 and November 2009. Prosecutors allege the abuse was part of a continuing course of conduct, occurring two or more times during that period.

Fields is also already in jail facing separate charges in connection to a deadly house fire in April that killed his two teenage sons and a family dog. As previously reported by ABC36 News Now, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and federal investigators allege Fields intentionally set fire to his home on April 30.

Following an extensive investigation, Fields was indicted in June on charges of first-degree arson, two counts of capital murder, and two counts of torture of a dog. He remains held at the Franklin County Regional Jail.

He is scheduled for arraignment on these latest charges on July 11.

The investigation into both cases is ongoing.
