Franklin County Humane Society Floods

Torrential rain caused problems for the Franklin County Humane Society.

Staff members didn’t think they’d be able to open Sunday, but the community helped them clear out water in time for regular hours by the afternoon.

It’s enough water for a fish tank, but the humane society shelters cats and dogs for the most part.

Water was creeping into kennels.

The shelter says volunteers, the Office of Emergency Management, the sewer department, and the jailer all brought help to clear out the water and clean the floors.

The humane society says its building and location are partially to blame.

It’s fundraising for a new building.
