FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) -Kentucky State University has confirmed an off-campus shooting involving one of its students.

According to Frankfort police, three students had pulled into Rose’s Car Wash on East Main Street at around 2:40 a.m., thinking they knew the occupants of a sedan there. Officers say, however, the three were mistaken about who was in the sedan. Then, investigators say, whoever was in the sedan opened fire hitting two of the three people inside the car.

20-year-old Kirtrice Plouche of Texas, a student at KSU, was shot in the arm. She was treated and released from the hospital. 24-year-old Donta Berry, a student from Central University in Ohio, was shot in the stomach. He is currently in surgery. The third occupant of the vehicle, also a student at KSU, was not injured.
