Frankfort Police Department investigates distribution of Ku Klux Klan flyers

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Frankfort Police Department has launched an investigation after Ku Klux Klan flyers were discovered in the driveways of local residences. The incident, which was reported on July 21, 2024, has been taken very seriously by the department, according to police.

In an official press release, Chief Dustin Bowman emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing racism and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background.

“The Frankfort Police Department strongly condemns racism in all its forms. Our community’s strength lies in its diversity, and we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our residents,” Chief Bowman stated.

The department says it will thoroughly investigate any potential hate crimes related to this incident. Police say they will not tolerate acts of hate or discrimination within the community. The release states anyone found to be participating in hate crimes will face criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law.
